
PhD: Cardiovascular Changes in Obesity

Applicants are invited for a 3 year PhD programme to explore the
cardiovascular consequences of obesity. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr.Vincent Maher, Consultant Cardiologist at the Adelaide and Meath Hospital Dublin.
This research programme is already underway with many subjects undergoing non-invasive vascular assessments (Vicorder assessment of PWV, Syphgmacor, echocardiography, MRI, Endothelial function), measurements of adiposity distribution and body fat content plus hormonal and cardiovascular risk factor assessments. The PhD student will be expected to become adept at vascular measurements, laboratory techniques, data interpretation and publish their work internationally.
